Mineral Identification
At Diamantina, our modal analysis services meticulously identify and quantify the minerals present, such as opaque and non-opaque minerals, using a combination of Polarizing Light Microscopy (reflective light and transmitted light) and point counting.
Transmitted Light Technique
This technique counts and identifies non-opaque minerals, including zircon, garnets, aluminium silicates, and more.
Reflective Light Technique
This technique counts all minerals present and specifically identifies opaque minerals such as ilmenite products, rutile, pseudo-rutile, and others.
The results of these analyses are provided in weight percentages.
